Veronica Kelly Shaughnessy, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother; passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Fresno, California on Nov. 23, 2016.

Nonnie, as she is best known, was born Nov. 4, 1939 in San Jose, California, the daughter of Thomas and Helen Kelly and sister of Kathleen Kelly Cornell. While a student at Notre Dame High School, she met her devoted husband of 59 years, William (Bill) Shaughnessy of Mountain View, California.

The young couple raised five children, Kelly, Erin, Kathleen, William, and Thomas while living abroad in England, Belgium, Hong Kong, and the Philippines for Bank America.

Nonnie and Bill settled in Fremont, California in 1979 where she began working for the Montgomery Wards department store and then California State University Hayward. Nonnie and Bill retired to Clovis, California in 1999.

The times she enjoyed most were the many weekends and holidays she shared with her 11 grandchildren at the family home and Shaughnessy cabin in the Sierra mountains. Nonnie was always the first to wish her grandchildren Happy Birthday and to celebrate their successes.

A true Irish family matriarch, Nonnie enriched the lives of everyone who knew her, and she passed along family traditions to be enjoyed for generations to come

Arrangements under the direction of Boice Funeral Home, Clovis, CA.
